FROM THE ROAD.

Fleeing from the police at 160 km/h ends very badly for a 19-year-old boy

His name is Oliver Clark, the 19-year-old boy from Grimsby (Great Britain) who failed to stop at the officers' checkpoint on the A180 in Cleethorpes on 12 July and crashed into a lorry at 160 km/h.

Dashcam footage now released by the Humberside police shows a Ford Fiesta speeding at full throttle, proceeding in a blatantly erratic manner between lanes, before crashing into a 32-tonne lorry.

The force of the impact was such that the truck was pushed off the road.

Clark spent four days in a coma after the accident. The driver of the truck escaped with minor injuries.

What do we know today
Clark spent four days in a coma after the accident. The driver of the truck got off with minor injuries. And now the sentence. Judge John Thackray KC sentenced the boy to a prison term of 12 months, suspended for two years. He also banned Clark from driving for two years and ordered him to undergo several tests before he could get his driving licence back: 'You should consider yourself extremely lucky. It was just pure luck that no one was killed in the chase and crash,' the judge told the boy.
