FROM THE ROAD.
Moose enters a movie theater and devours popcorn: images from Alaska
Unscheduled break-in at a movie theater in Kenai, a town of 7,000 in southern Alaska, where a young moose broke in and was caught on surveillance cameras.
The young moose entered the movie theater while the theaters were full for The Pope's Exorcist and SuperMario Bros, but the real show eventually turned out to be him. The animal stayed for about five minutes in the lobby.
Surveillance video shows the moose sniffing around the kiosk before following his nose to a nearby tray of popcorn left by the garbage can.
Enterprising
Unscheduled break-in at a cinema in Kenai, a town of 7,000 inhabitants in southern Alaska, where a young moose broke in and was caught on surveillance cameras.
Smell of popcorn
"The smell of our popcorn attracted him," Kenai's cinema director Ricky Black explained to the newspapers. "He was pretty focused on that. I guess he was tired of eating bark for the winter."
A pleasant surprise
The young moose entered the cinema while the theatres were full for The Pope's Exorcist and SuperMario Bros, but the real spectacle eventually turned out to be him. The animal stayed for about five minutes in the lobby, Black said.
A glutton
Surveillance video shows the moose sniffing around the kiosk before following its nose to a nearby tray of popcorn left over from the rubbish can. At one point it also stuck its snout into a fast food box.
It was not an adult
The situation would have been quite different if an adult moose had entered. "I wouldn't have the same reaction in front of a male moose in heat in mating season, or a female moose that had just given birth," said the director.
This is not the first time this has happened
Security cameras captured the whole scene. This is not the first time this has happened. A few weeks earlier, also in Alaska, in Anchorage, a moose entered the Providence Alaska Health Park hospital, in the cancer centre, and walked around eating some office plants.
