Cyclone Freddy caused a trail of destruction in Southeast Africa: photos
The tropical cyclone Freddy has sown a trail of destruction and chaos in Southeast Africa, which has been hit by the storm for the second time in less than a month. In three weeks, more than 130 people have died. The storm is currently in Malawi, where authorities have declared a state of disaster.
Cyclone Freddy first hit Madagascar on Feb. 21. From there the storm moved over Mozambique, and then returned to land across the Indian Ocean, with increased power; on March 11 it reached Mozambique and Malawi for the second time.
The phenomenon, which formed off Australia and reached storm stage in early February, has been raging in the Indian Ocean for 35 days.
