Bike parking built underwater, timelapsed video of the incredible work

We are in Amsterdam. The bicycle capital of Europe par excellence. Statistics speak of 900,000 bicycles for a population of 882,000. And therein arises the difficulty of parking one's bicycle. Especially in the most congested places like stations.

And so the city of Amsterdam wanted to make it even easier for cyclists and built in less than 3 years a bicycle parking lot near the central station, which is known to be located on 3 artificial islands.

How, then, to gain space? By building the mammoth parking lot under the waters of the Amstel river that cuts through the capital of the Netherlands. The structure, built 9 meters below the water level, can accommodate more than 7 thousand bicycles and is connected via a tunnel directly with the station.
