Las Vegas lights up Sphere, the world's largest spherical structure

On the occasion of American Independence Day, Sphere, an imposing spherical structure built in the city of Las Vegas (Nevada, USA), was finally switched on.

With a height of more than 110 metres and a width of 157 metres, Sphere is the world's largest LED screen and the largest spherical structure ever built on Earth. The switch-on on 4 July was only a test for the time being, as the structure should officially open by the end of this year.

And while videos of all kinds will be displayed outside, inside there is space for nine floors and 17,600 seats.

A record-breaking structure
With a height of more than 110 metres and a width of 157 metres, Sphere is the world's largest LED screen and the largest spherical structure to date on Earth. The switch-on on 4 July was only a test for the time being, as the structure should officially open in a few weeks.

The Las Vegas Sphere may not be the only one in the world in the future
Costing around $2.3 billion, the Las Vegas Sphere is not expected to be the only one in the world. It seems that plans already exist for a very similar structure and that it should be built in Europe, in London.

The virtual experience
Among the experiences that will be possible inside Sphere is that of virtual reality but without visors. This will be possible thanks to a system of 15,000 square metres of LEDs, 164,000 speakers and thousands of video cameras. The sound, in particular, will be customised according to sectors (allowing, for example, part of the audience to hear it in a different language) while 10,000 seats will be haptic and will allow a 4D experience with immersive haptic effects.
